Asuka II world cruise 2006 No.3 Rrough sea /

Our next port is Singapore. Like it or not, we must stay on the ship for a week before we arrive there. But the sea has been rough since our ship went into the open sea last night. Under the low atmospheric pressure, it keeps rolling and pitching so awfully that a couple, I heard later, who went onboard to finish the circle around the world, of course, left the ship with their luggage and flew back home from Singapore.

Due to the international regulation, there is an evacuation exercise for passengers soon after the departure on each cruise. Today's training was called at 10:00, but very few people could come out of the room because of seasickness. If the sea is calm, we usually gather at the open-air pleasant promenade deck under our own evacuation boat lifted and set up above. There we get to know our neighbors and become friends with other people while we hear the crew's explanation and instructions. But today all we saw through windows was violent sea under heavy clouds. I am sorry for entertainers in the evening like this. By all means, they have to be on stage. I know one comedian who put double-face stick tape on the soles of his shoes and did his stand-up performance.

Dress code is specified each day out of three categories: CASUAL, INFORMAL, FORMAL. Today's code is FORMAL, requiring gents in tuxedo or dinner jacket with tie, or kimono bearing a family crest with a crested haori coat, and ladies in an evening gown or in kimono also bearing a family crest or semi-ceremonial kimono for formal visits. I love FORMAL nights. It is nice and wonderful to watch beautifully dressed people on the ship as well as eating beautiful food. I personally choose my clothes based on how I should pay respect and express thanks to those who support the occasion. I rarely have a mistake in choosing my clothes that way.
