All through the year, small river (or mountain) crabs live in my garden. Especially during rainy season, they are active and come out of their hiding places of bricks and leaves. They are walking around in the garden and yard early morning. If you stop and listen, you can hear the faint sound of their rustling steps. Before driving a car out of the garage, it is our daily custom to pick each one of the crabs out of the area, asking them to clear the way.

Since the crab indigenous to Japan is a traditional delicacy, some of my visiting acquaintances easily say that I have a good cooking material in the garden. Cooking them!! That is out of the question! After so many good years with them. No!

I do not know how many times they repaired my depressed heart just by letting me watch them.

You have a most amazing yard. I love the pictures of the crabs, especially the "shy" one :-)

[this is good]

Many natural living things are what we like about our yard.
Our crabs' movements are so fascinating! The shy one is cute, isn't it?

OOh - I love those little crabs. They are like the soldier crabs that inhabit where my parents live.

Ah, they must be the ones that walk forward and leave numerous tiny sand balls on the beach! They are very cute, too. The ones here walk sideways.
